Wooden outdoor furniture can be quite expensive. I made this DIY coffee table from lumber. I made it as a part of the set with loveseat to which you can see instructions here. I am not even joking, this table took us 5 minutes to put together. As long as you have all the pieces the job is easy and straight forward. The painting takes time but frame is really quick.
SUPPLIES:
- Top – I used one lumber board. HERE
- Legs – I used three 8 feet long 2x2s to make the base for the tabletop. HERE
- Long Screws – I used 2 inch long screws to connect legs with one another.
- Short Screws – I used 1 3/4 inch long screws to connect table top to the base.
- Wood Stain – Available HERE
TOOLS
- Orbital Sander
- Drill
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 – CUT WOOD PIECES
Ideally, you can cut them at the store you purchase your wood from. Home Depot cut the wood for you in the store for free.
Top: 20×32 inch
Legs: 12 pieces in total. Long pieces: 32 inch each (4 in total). Medium pieces: 17 inch each (4 in total). Short pieces: 11 inch each (4 in total).
STEP 2 – SAND YOUR PANELS
Sand your wood panels with orbital sander.
STEP 3 – CONNECT BASE PANELS

First, to connect bottom frame, start by connecting two long to two medium pieces to one another. You will need the total of four long screws to do so. Do the same for top frame. Then, connect legs to the bottom frame and then connect the top frame to it.

STEP 4 – CONNECT TOP PANEL

Now connect the top to the frame. To do so you will need to screw from the below of the tabletop. This way you will not have screws coming out through your tabletop so that the look won’t get destroyed.

STEP 5 – STAIN

I chose dark brown because I like brown and the color will fade from the exposure to the sun anyway. I put two lawyers of stain. I followed the instruction from the stain container of how long to wait in between lawyers.
